About the editors and how we work
Who publishes this list, why our own resort leads it and which checks a hotel has to pass first.
The company behind Dealentia
Dealentia comes out of Joliet. Its publisher is Harrah's Illinois LLC, 151 North Joliet Street, Joliet, IL 60432, a Caesars Entertainment company and the controlling partner in the business that runs Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel, a few steps down the same street.
Put simply, entry number one is the publisher's own resort. It leads because Harrah's Illinois LLC owns it, and every booking made there benefits the owner directly. The label sits on the entry, the introduction repeats it, and so does the method section, because a top spot bought by ownership should never pass as an impartial verdict.
Where Dealentia's income comes from
Two sources. Partner networks or hotels may pay a referral commission when a reader follows one of our links and books. Separately, any night sold at the Joliet resort is revenue for the company that owns this site. Neither source raises the price a reader pays.
The affiliate links page sets out each arrangement.
What earns a place
Four tests. The property must rent overnight rooms. It must sit within a realistic drive of Chicago. It needs a reason to visit that has nothing to do with gaming, such as a pool hall, a spa, a concert room, a riverbank or a beach town. And its own published material must back up what we write.
Our sources are the resorts' official pages, operator fact sheets, state regulator filings and regional newspapers. Dealentia editors do not pose as anonymous guests and turn down complimentary nights offered in return for coverage.
Local knowledge
The people maintaining the list are based in Will County and drive these interstates, ride these Metra lines and know when lake-effect snow or spring floods change a plan. When a policy belongs to the hotel, such as an age rule or a parking charge, we send you to the hotel instead of guessing on its behalf.
Hotels that share our parent group
Horseshoe St. Louis, Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf and Harrah's Metropolis sit inside the same Caesars group as our publisher, so Dealentia marks those three entries “Sister property (same parent group)”. The remaining six have no corporate tie to Dealentia.
Fixing mistakes
Spot an error, a closed restaurant or a renamed spa? Email contact@dealentia.com, pasting the Dealentia page link plus the change you noticed. An editor compares it with the hotel's current information, rewrites the passage where needed and moves the revision date at the top. We aim to correct factual slips within a few working days.
